Highway Hotshop is a joint partnership between Joshua Dopp and Adam Frus. Over the course of the last few years we have had the dream of building an open access glass studio in the downtown Phoenix arts district. This concept has over the last year morphed into the design and building of a mobile glass studio. It became apparent that to have a highly visible and public studio a mobile shop made most sense. Our goal is to put Phoenix and Arizona on the glass art map.

Joshua Dopp - Brief Bio

Joshua Noah Dopp has been working with glass for over twenty years. He received his MFA in Glass and Sculpture from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2001. His BA in Art History is from the University of California at Santa Barbara. Joshua is currently a Glass Artist in Residence at the Mesa Arts Center. He received a fellowship to the Creative Glass Center of America, Millville, New Jersey in 2002 and Penland School of Crafts in 1998. He has exhibited extensively from Santa Barbara to Zurich.
As an artist his work takes many forms. Not content to have a signature style, Joshua is constantly experimenting and allowing the topic and force of the moment to inspire and inform his work. Trends apparent in his oeuvre include modernistic abstract bio-morphic forms to highly researched and studied architectural tomes on special relations. Conceptually, balance and harmony and the revealing of beauty by combining divergent and seemingly opposable themes largely guide his work. With an ear to the rail he searches for meaning that is universal while unapologetically referencing the personal. Although he currently lives in Arizona he is a traveler at heart and has lived all over the US and in Europe. His work has been collected by notable patrons and can be seen in museums.
